November 4th started over social media to spread the word to all about the state of North Carolina public schools. Initially the group had called for educators to "walk out" on November 4th. While the intention was not to actually walk out on our students or our responsibilities, it has since gotten much attention from the media.
After reviewing our end goals of the initial walk out, which was to get the attention of parents and leaders in our state, we have decided that our best course of action at this time is to Walk In on November 4. We will be working with NCAE, local NCAE affiliates, and the group Organize2020 to schedule events throughout the state of North Carolina. Our goal is to promote a positive change in our public schools. Parents need to know what is going on in public schools and how they can get involved and support teachers. The community needs to be aware of the state of our public education and come together to make a change for our students and our future. |
